Grant Programs   The Department of Housing and Community Affairs provides grants for a wide array of community development needs including housing, economic development, brownfields remediation, planning, historic preservation, accessibility improvements to municipal buildings, and other community development projects.       Vermont Community Development Program     Grants to municipalities that provide financial and technical assistance to identify and address local needs and priorities in the areas of housing, economic development, public facilities and public services for persons of lower income. MORE         Land Use Planning   Municipal Planning Grant (MPG) Program     A state-funded program designed to support Vermont towns in their municipal planning and implementation efforts. Matching funds are required for applications requesting over $8,000, ($15,000 for consortia). MORE         Historic Preservation         Barn Grant Program     A 50/50 matching grants program to assist owners of historic agricultural buildings (barns, corn cribs, sheds, grist mills, etc.) in the restoration and repair of these endangered buildings. This program encourages the continued use of farm buildings for agricultural use. MORE         Historic Preservation Grant Program     A 50/50 matching grants program to assist municipalities and non-profit organizations in restoring important historic buildings across the state, thereby enhancing the public's awareness and appreciation of Vermont's cultural heritage. MORE         Certified Local Government Grant Program     Matching grants for a variety of historic preservation projects. Applicants must be municipalities that have been certified as meeting certain standards related to historic preservation. MORE
